Job Description:

Job Summary:

  • Work collaboratively with the engineering team and plant personnel to improve design, manufacturing, and assembly process.
  • Designs and details lawn mower and grain dryer parts, assemblies, and accessories.

Essential Functions:

  • Design and model products and components in SolidWorks accurately.
  • Prepare and maintain an accurate Bill of Materials.
  • Review, evaluate, and troubleshoot design problems.
  • Assist in supporting new and existing designs by gathering information and producing drawings.
  • Conduct shop and field tests and prepare evaluation/test reports.
  • Drives company vehicle to travel and assist dealers and customers on how to troubleshoot or repair Shivvers equipment.
  • Work from written and verbal directions, sketches, and customer specifications.
  • Create, document, and maintain parts and assembly instructions.
  • Prepare product manuals and assembly instructions.
  • Revise manufacturing drawing for various components and assemblies, as required.
  • Evaluate and update manufacturing drawing for clarity and dimensional accuracy.
  • Assist with troubleshooting and problem-solving by working directly with the design team, production supervisors/managers, and shop floor production team as needed.
  • Maintain consistent communication with the supervisor on the status of assigned tasks.
  • Follows safety rules and regulations in performing work assignments. Performs work in a neat and orderly fashion and maintains a clean and safe work environment.
  • Actively participates in continuous improvement activities.

Educational Requirements:

  • Associate’s degree in Applied Science preferred, or equivalent experience.

Skills/Experience Requirements:

  • Previous CAD modeling/drafting experience required.
  • Familiarity with manufacturing processes a plus.
  • High level of proficiency in drafting in a 3D environment using SolidWorks.
  • Attention to detail. Strong critical thinking and problem-solving skills.
  • Strong mechanical knowledge and ability with understanding of electrical and hydraulic components and circuits.
  • Ability to work from engineering sketches.
  • Knowledge of geometric dimensioning and tolerancing preferred.
  • Work effectively with limited direction as well as the ability to work in a team environment and multitask effectively.
  • Strong organizational, oral, and written communication skills.
  • Good working knowledge of Microsoft Office programs.

Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to stand for long periods of time.
  • Ability to perform repetitive operations.
  • Ability to lift up to 25lbs frequently; occasionally lift and/or move up to 50lbs.
  • Ability to perform repetitive motions such as bending, walking, reaching with hands, grasping, pushing, and pulling.
  • Ability to wear PPE (personal protective equipment) as needed. Steel-toed shoes and safety glasses are required when working in the factory or testing areas.

Work Environment:

  • Environment ranges from an office environment to a manufacturing shop environment with various noise levels and temperatures ranging from hot to cold depending on seasons.
