Job Description:

Brief Description of Job:

  • The Quality Assurance Technician conducts inspections to determine quality of raw materials, in-process parts, and finished goods. Performs audits on parts, finished goods, and process documentation.
  • Supports production by researching and resolving issues or communicates issues to appropriate personnel.
  • Assists in identifying areas for quality improvement and helps implement new methods accordingly.
  • Works proactively to offer support in the areas of Quality Assurance as an integral part of the Shivvers Continuous Improvement Program.
  • Works closely with and assist in manufacturing and engineering projects as part of the company’s strategic product development and production improvement plan.

Essential Functions:

  • Performs, records, and maintains physical audits as needed.
  • Inspects and evaluates inventory when issues are found.
  • Completes scrap tags and appropriate documentation.
  • Creates and updates quality documents, policies, and procedures.
  • Prepares reports for review from multiple departments.
  • Coordinates and performs corrective actions.
  • Communicates with manufacturing and support teams.
  • Assists with monitoring production and machinery to ensure the quality of end-product.
  • Will be required to fit or assemble fabricated parts together to assess effectiveness of assembly methods, training, and documentation; and modify processes accordingly.
  • Constantly strives to eliminate waste and improve customer satisfaction via continuous improvement methodologies.
  • Establishes a collaborative working team relationship that will support and foster cultural change efforts necessary to achieve organizational goals and an environment of continuous improvement.
  • Follows safety rules and regulations when performing work assignments.
  • Performs other duties as required or assigned.

Educational Requirements:

  • High School Diploma, or General Education Degree (GED) required.

Skills/Experience Requirements:

  • Previous experience in a manufacturing setting preferred with a basic knowledge of methodologies of quality assurance and standards.
  • Excellent numerical skills and understanding of data analysis/statistical method.
  • Ability to prepare reports and documentation.
  • Good working knowledge of MS Office and databases.
  • Strong oral, and written communication skills.
  • Excellent organizational skills with attention to detail and result driven approach.
  • Demonstrated ability to operate and read various metrology tools, including but not limited to: calipers, micrometers, height gauge, depth gauge.
  • Familiarization with ERP system operations.
  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as technical specifications and professional journals.

Physical Requirements:

  • Must be able to stand from six (6) to eight (8) hours per day.
  • Ability to perform activities including bending, stooping, standing, lifting up to 50 lbs. occasionally.
  • Ability to wear PPE (personal protective equipment) as needed such as eye/face shields and clothing protection. Steel-toed shoes are required.

Work Environment:

  • Equal amount of Office environment and Manufacturing shop environment with various noise levels and temperatures ranging from hot to cold depending on seasons.
